A2 Hidalgo

For my design I wanted to integrate an arch-like structure that would help the bridge have more strength as we see in the first image. The bridge is made by a simple alternating truss and with an arch that supports it self with the side of the wall on which its put on. As the image shows the top levels has extended members that go up against the side wall I hope that this will protect the structure from extreme weight. The web of trusses in the middle of the bridge were made the way they are mainly to reduce overall costs. if two white chords were used instead of 1 yellow cord ( the members which are parallel to the ground) the cost of the bridge would have been much steeper. The second image shows the top view of the bridge its rather simple just basic trusses.
The design of this bridge was always changing because of the new ways I was learning of assembling the knex pieces. At the beginning of my thought process I was simple thinking of making a simple truss bridge but then it made more sense to me to build a bridge with an arch rather than a simple truss bridge. This design helped me learn that the way the bridge can be supported.
